St. Andrew's Church attempts to be a blessing to the community in which God has called it to serve. We carry out our community service in a variety of ways. The obvious ways are through weddings, baptisms and funerals, but we are also involved in the community in other ways as well.

We support the Valley CIDS (Christians in Derbyshire Schools) project by helping to staff the local Lighthouse charity shop. We also support the shop with our prayers, giving and donations. Valley CIDS are also involved in some of our activities.

Our Church hall is used regularly by a variety of local groups.

In addition to this we have Church members who give of their time voluntarily to serve the community in many capacities such as Parish Councillors, School Governors, and in the Women's Institute etc.

As a Church 10% of our annual income is given away to national and local charitable concerns. We support local homeless projects by providing practical help such as home start-up packs, toiletries and Christmas gifts. We run a food bank, distributing help where it is most needed.

We regularly send mission teams out to Romania. We support this work financially, practically and through prayer. For more information see the Romania page. Some photos of our Romania trips are on the Gallery page.

Messy Play has developed over a period of time, to enable families to meet together for craft fun and stories in a relaxed environment and to share a hot meal. Out of Messy Play, Messy Tots has evolved meeting the needs of families with younger children.

We run a foodbank for anyone in need, and have recently started up a lunch club.

The Mission statement of the Church is "To know Christ and to make Him known", and everything we do is centered on this mission statement. One way we have done this is through Alpha; a simple, friendly, fun way to learn about the basics of the Christian faith. More information about this can be obtained on our Alpha page.

St. Andrew's is proud of its community involvement and regularly seeks God's guidance as to how we may further be involved in this precious area.
