Dear Friends

What do you believe? At the moment we live in a world divided between different opinions; different ways of doing things; different viewpoints and all say that they are correct.

I've been following the Hutton inquiry and it's highlighted how truth is dispensable or can be twisted to suit various parties. I strongly suspect that everyone involved will come out with some shred of shame attached to them; and that's because many people have taken the events, twisted their own stance in it all and proclaimed themselves to be telling the truth!

All over the world truth has become a matter of what people choose to believe at any particular time, and it can be changed to suit the circumstances.

Well, to me such a view doesn't speak of truth, for I think that truth is non-negotiable. We may try to hide it, disguise it, pretend it's not there but it still remains truth. No matter what the Hutton inquiry produces there will still be the truth of the matter, even if no-one ever ever finds out what it is.

The trouble with it all is that God will know what the truth is, for he knows everything; all about us; our thoughts; our emotions; our hidden actions. It's scary stuff isn't it? And it ought to affect our lives. Many of us carry out actions or think certain thoughts and yet we assume that because no-one else has seen or knows what we are thinking then it is alright. But God knows and ultimately He is the one we'll have to answer to.

He's the one we'll have to answer to about our commitment to the building of His Kingdom; our use of time for Him; our giving of our money to Him; our words for Him, or against Him; our study of His Holy Word; our dedication to Worship irrespective of who the preacher is or what the music is like. The list goes on, and yet we also remember that He is a loving and forgiving God. However the knowledge that He forgives me simply makes me more determined to get my life right for Him. What about you?
